It can be tempting to hide indoors and hibernate through winter in St. Louis. Our advice? Get out!
St. Louis still has plenty of fun activities to do as temperatures drop. Here’s our fun list of activities that you can enjoy from the holidays through the new year. Don’t worry, some are indoor activities for those deep freeze days we’re bound to get.
Schlafly Winter Market
Every year, Schlafly Farmers Market moves indoors at the Maplewood location – Schlafly Bottleworks.
The Winter Market is full of great produce, artisan cheeses, baked goods, cured meats and even some locally-made crafts. Make a day of it by enjoying lunch, live music, and even a beer tasting at the brewery afterwards.
Stroll or Drive down Candy Cane Lane
This fun and festive light display is solely the work of some dedicated St. Louis Hills residents. Immediately following Thanksgiving, the 6500 block of Murdoch Avenue transforms into Candy Cane Lane. The street is impressively decked out in holidays lights, decor and fun. We always make sure to pack along a hot chocolate and a few donation dollars for the stroll.
Enjoy a Night of Ice Skating
Most St. Louis-residents know about Steinberg Ice Rink, located in Forest Park. However, we also have two new locations to enjoy some outdoor fun! Both Anheuser-Busch Brewery and the Gateway Arch will be offering ice skating for 2016.
Sledding on Art Hill
When we get a little snowfall, your best bet is to bundle up and head to Art Hill in Forest Park for some sledding fun. Bonus points for the workout you get climbing back up to the top over and over again. Not in the mood to sled, but your older kids are? Browse the Saint Louis Art Museum while you wait for them to finish up their day of fun.
No matter how your spend the holidays, we hope you get a chance to enjoy an item our two off of our fun list of activities to get you out when you are feeling like having some fun with your family!
